Collagen Renewal

Copper plays a vital role in the manufacture of collagen by the skin. It is part of the process by which particular amino acids are converted into collagen protein chains which form part of the matrix (ECM) that supports the skin giving it structure, firmness, and elasticity

Scar Removal

Numerous research articles demonstrate the remarkable ability of copper peptides (GHK-Cu) to repair light scars (e.g ice pick scars formed as a result of acne). When the skin is injured the skin rushes to repair the damage by hastily laying down collagen fibres. Due to this haste, these bundles of collagen are disorganised and results in visible scarring. Copper peptides can dissolve these poorly disorganised bundles of collagen and replace them with correctly organised fibres. The process is by no means a quick fix and anyone who wishes to reduce the depth of scarring must be patient.

But whilst the subtle repairs are going on the skin will be responding to the benefits of the GHK-Cu peptides in rather more immediately apparent ways. before you see obvious reductions in the depth of scars you should see a reduction in fines lines and be aware of an improved firmness and tone of the skin.

Copper Peptides and Stretch Marks

Stretch marks occur when the skin expands quickly (typically during pregnancy or sudden weight gain) and results in tearing of the collagen network evidenced by the tell tale stretch marks. Via the same mechanism as explained above Copper peptides have the ability to reduce the appearance of stretch marks by gradually  dissolving the damaged, torn collagen fibres and replacing them with new undamaged collagen. But please do bear in mind that this process is not quick. Nor can copper peptides completely resolve the issue. But use of an appropriate moisturiser or serum will, over time, improve the complexion.

To accelerate the process we would recommend a weekly application of a mild mandelic acid peel (15% would be ideal). The peel, by gently exfoliating the uppermost layer of skin, will remove the damaged layers. Again, the process is not rapid so do be patient.
